Donovan Chester spent the early part of his career with some success as a painter. He moved to Regina in 1965 and was introduced to clay by Jack Sures at the University of Regina. Never looking back, he is well known for his Raku works. From 1977 to 1987 he was Head of Extension Pottery at the University of Regina.
