Mel Heath was introduced to painting at the age of ten by Ontario artist, Salem Hatch. Watercolor artist Robert Hurley introduced him to watercolor in his teens. In 1984, Heath was accepted into the Federation of Canadian Artists and soon after he was made a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor.
