James Archibald Houston facilitated the development of printmaking among Inuit artists in Kinngait, Nunavut (Cape Dorset). He studied in Japan under master print maker Un'ichi Hiratsuka and returned to Kinngait to share the acquired knowledge. The result was the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative Ltd., founded by Kenojuak Ashevak and her peers.
