Hugh Mackenzie began as a technical artist (working on the A.V. Ro Arrow). His professional career was spent as an art educator, working at the Ontario College of Art (OCAD U) from 1968 until 1991. His work can be found in such major collections as the Art Gallery of Ontario, Carleton University Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and the Montreal Museum of Fine Art.
