A life-long resident of Kitchener, J. Harold Smyth Q.C. was a long-standing senior partner in the Kitchener law firm which he established. He was also a strong supporter of the arts. In 1956, he became a Founding Board Member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery (KWAG) and served on the Board until 1965. From 1960 to 1962, he was the Board President.
