From 1915 to 1918 Jocelyn Taylor studied art at the Central Technical School of Toronto, Ontario. Then, from 1918 to 1919, she studied at the Ontario College of Art (OCAD U), Toronto, Ontario. She worked in set design from 1919 to 1921, and from 1924 to 1925, for the Hart House theater in Toronto. Moving to the USA, in 1929 to 1932 she studied at the Art Students League in New York, NY, under George Bridgman. From 1930 to 1944, she taught in the Department of Dramatic Art at New York University. Back in Canada, Taylor continued her teaching career at the Central Technical School from 1946 to 1964. Her preferred media included oil, acrylic, watercolour, gouache and ink.
